rifles for when your not hunting

ok this forum has been empty too long. lets talk about the rifles you carry when you are camping, fishing, quadding, bushcrafting, or just foolin around in the bush. what do you use it for? is it for protection from the wild life? just plinking? foraging for small game? is it even legal where you live.? what caliber is the all roung best one. what rifle? up here where i am it is legal all year to have a rifle or shotgun for protection and even encouraged. (yukon). my choice for this is the marlin guide gun, 4570. fits in the truck, boat , on the quad, in the tent. lots of power and works great. what are all your opinions on this. lets hear them. cheers cranky

well for just plinking away a single shot .22 cheep to shoot fun to shoot all day long if ya want..

for the serious stuff though I like a combo rifle 30-06/12ga you can shoot anything in north America with it...

also you can us inserts for the 30-06 and also shoot .308 .38 and 30 carbine whats not to like!

and with the 12ga you can shoot dust to slugs...

How about a Winchester .30-30?
Easy to carry, rugged, general purpose.
