Advice for new hunters?

Advice for new hunters?

Postby Taran » Tue Aug 11, 2009 8:21 pm

I was wondering how many people on here hunt? and what their suggestions would be for a newb (me) looking to build skill and get some experience. I am getting my CORE this weekend but I don't want to just get it and not progress beyond that point.
Personally, I know I need to work on my marksmanship (a lot) as I am a firearms newb as well. Marksmanship aside, what do people suggest?

get lots of range time in shooting paper and keep it up at least once a month to keep sharp and also shoot standing not just the bench that will really let you know how your doing and improving over time.... you may be wandering all over the target when standing but to be in the right place when you pull that trigger is the key! its just practice they say you have to do something 10,000 times for muscle memory to kick in and it will be instinct from that point on I'm getting their...lol....

Thanks! I just got a car so that will greatly assist me getting to the range. Getting myself to the range was "challenging" when I needed to leach a ride to get there.
